Vang was in custody for an unrelated matter during the service of the search warrant. On Monday, March 16, 2020, at approximately 8:38 A.M., deputies and investigators served a search warrant at Vang’s residence in the 800 Block of N. Vang proceeded to use the victim’s credit card at several businesses to purchase approximately $1000 worth of tools that he planned to use to further his illegal marijuana cultivation. While she was distracted, a suspect identified as 33-year-old Banning resident Peng Vang, stole her purse containing her credit cards and family photos. In the early morning hours of Monday, February 24, 2020, a 71-year-old female was gambling at the Soboba Resort and Casino and left her purse unattended under the seat of her walker while she gambled at a slot machine.
